Day 1 was a travel day for the missions team. Your prayers were felt! There were no issues with checking 24 team members in at the airport in Pittsburgh at 3:45 am. Our flight connections went smoothly, and all 40 bags made it to Honduras. That was a small miracle. We met up with the 25th member of our team when we arrived at the airport in San Pedro Sula. It was so exciting to be in Honduras, to see familiar faces, and to see that Ol’ Blue (the church bus) was out in front of the airport waiting for us.
The trip from the airport to La Ceiba would not be complete without stopping for lunch at Power Chicken. Let’s just say that no one left hungry. After one more stop along the way, the team made its way to the church to drop off all of the extra bags full of supplies. The team members were then dropped off at the host homes to meet the families they would be staying with this week. We were all excited to spend the evening with our host families, as this always is a great blessing to us. These families teach us what hospitality is all about.
On Monday (Day 2), we will hit the ground running with many projects: home building, teaching English at the CDI (Child Development Center), providing haircuts for the children at the CDI, working at the clinic, and providing labor at the new church site.
Thank you for your prayers; we have felt them! Until tomorrow.
