A Message of Encouragement

Our current series, Out of the Shadows, focuses on how the darkness cannot overcome the light, even when things only seem to get worse. Right now, we can all relate to this—but if we put our faith in Him, the unknown, uncertainty, and negativity will not prevail.

With that, we’d love to share some encouraging news with you!

Pastor Kevin Deming and family are doing well and still recovering at home during their quarantine. Thank you for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers for them and our entire Ridge team.

Through two collection weeks for the FeedWV food drive, you generously donated over 5,000 pounds of non-perishable food to help feed the hungry in West Virginia!

Groups have started meeting online to stay connected, and we love seeing the photos of your virtual gatherings—keep posting them and don’t forget to tag us! We’re working on more ways to keep you connected with others, and we’ll be bringing those updates to you soon!

We’ve seen thousands gather with us online over the past two Sundays! We are grateful that we can reach so many during this time, and we encourage you to invite others to watch!

March 20, 2020 Update

March 20, 2020 Update

Ridge Family—

As you may know, there are now confirmed cases of COVID-19 in West Virginia.  We are praying for those affected, and we are taking every precaution necessary to put the health and safety of our team and church family first.

With that, we ask that you join us in prayer for Pastor Kevin Deming and his family. Yesterday, Kevin tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.  Kevin and his wife, Becca, recently visited Israel and upon returning last week, they decided to self-quarantine. Since returning, Kevin has had no contact with staff or others in Mon County, and will remain quarantined in his home for at least the next 14 days. The family is doing well, and they are able to remain at home during this time.

While this news may be overwhelming for some, remember that Jesus is consistent and in control during the storm. Throughout this unpredictable time,  let’s trust that God will lift all of us up, strengthen us, and give us hope.

Sunday gatherings will be online only for the next two Sundays, March 22nd and 29th. View  services at theridge.church/live at 9am and 11am, or watch on Facebook at 9am and 11am.

Your faithfulness in giving is appreciated. The Ridge will continue to have expenses through these unpredictable times. You can continue to give online at theridge.church/give, by texting a dollar amount to 304-470-7048, or mailing your check to Chestnut Ridge Church at 2223 Cheat Road, Morgantown, WV 26508.

March 17, 2020 Update

March 17, 2020

Dear Ridge Family—

For many of you, the events in the world over the past few weeks have caused some fear and worry. It is a season of concern in our nation due to the COVID-19 virus. We are praying for those affected by this illness.

People are our priority, and we are doing everything we can to ensure that our church family and staff are healthy. We are taking the necessary precautions, and want to do our part in slowing the spread of this virus.

After much prayer and discernment, we will be moving our gathering online, and will not gather in person at the church building located at 2223 Cheat Road this Sunday. We are grateful that technology allows us to experience worship and services online with you.

Sunday’s service will be available at chestnutridgechurch.com/live at 9am and 11am. You can also view the service live on our Facebook page at 9am.  The Facebook broadcast will continue to be available to view after the service.

Groups and events will also be canceled for the foreseeable future, including Easter Jam, Welcome to The Ridge, Revelation Study, College Spring Retreat, and all groups that were scheduled to gather from March 15th through 20th.

As of now, the church office will be open during regular business hours. We are continually monitoring the situation, and we will do our best to keep you updated and connected through email and social media as the situation evolves. You can also visit chestnutridgechurch.com/coronavirus for the latest updates.

Finally—let’s pray, not panic.  Keep your eyes and heart fixed and focused on Jesus. God is good, God is faithful, God is with us, and God is in control.

Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you. [Peter 5:7]

–The Ridge Team

Why Gather Online?

We Want to Honor God by Honoring Authority
Governor Justice and other government officials have clearly stated that it is not wise to hold any large meetings. As a church, we desire to honor God by submitting to their authority as outlined in Romans 13:1.

We Are A Medical Community
We are blessed to have many doctors, nurses, and medical professionals in attendance. While we are thankful for our city to be a leader in statewide response, we recognize that our congregation may have more exposure to the virus and those who are working so diligently on our behalf.

We Have the Gift of Technology
Because of your giving and generosity, we have the technology in place to continue to share the Good News of Jesus through our live stream. Though we are not able to gather together in person this week, we can continue to worship, grow and celebrate together as a church family. This Sunday, let’s gather online to worship and learn from the comfort of our homes. Invite others to watch with you!
