Baptism Explanation animation

Show & Tell: A baptism event where kids & students SHOW their personal faith and TELL how Jesus has changed their lives.

We’ve created a celebration event just for our students (elementary-high school) to SHOW others that they are placing their faith in Christ through Baptism and TELL their story of how Jesus has changed their lives.

We are excited that you are interested in baptism. We believe that baptism is an important step of obedience for every person who has accepted Christ as his or her Savior.

A big part of what baptism is about is making a personal statement. Baptism is a way for Christians to identify themselves with Christ. The baptism process at CRC has been designed to help you understand the step that you are taking, as well as to prepare you to make that statement.

Here is a broad outline of our baptism process:

  1. Complete the online registration form for the baptism process by clicking here.
  2. Meet with a church staff member to talk about the significance of baptism.
  3. Prepare to tell your personal faith story. (Don’t worry the church staff member will help you.)
  4. Schedule your baptism. (Show & Tell happen three times a year for kids and students)
  5. Get Baptized!

FAQ

This section explains why one should be baptized, the meaning of baptism, why baptism should be by immersion, and who should be baptized.

What is the meaning of baptism?

  1. It illustrates Christ’s death and resurrection. “…Christ died for our sins… He was buried… and He was raised again on the third day.” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 “Having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.” Colossians 2:12
  2. It illustrates my new life as a Christian. “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the father, we too may live a new life.” Romans 6:4
Why should I be baptized?

  1. To follow the example set by Jesus. “At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.” Mark 1:9
  2. Christ commands it. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19,20
  3. It symbolizes that I really am a Christian. “…many of the Corinthians who heard Him believed and were baptized.” Acts 18:8

Who should be baptized?

Every person who has believed in Christ. “Those who believed and accepted his message were baptized…” Acts 2:41 “Simon himself believed and was baptized…” Acts 8:13 “But they believed Philip as he preached the Good News… and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.” Acts 8:12

When can my child be baptized?

At CRC we wait until people are old enough to believe and understand the true meaning of baptism before we baptize them.

Why be baptized by immersion?

  1. Jesus was baptized that way. “As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water.” Matthew 3:16
  2. Every baptism in the New Testament was by immersion. (Example) “…then both Philip and the man went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water…” Acts 8:38-39
  3. The word “baptize” means immerse. baptizo [Gr.] “to immerse or dip”
  4. It best symbolizes the object of our faith: a death and resurrection.
