It is Sunday morning and we are in the airport in San Pedro Sula awaiting our departure for Atlanta and then on to Pittsburgh. Each year when we come to La Ceiba the church insists that they show us a “fun” day so we can enjoy their country. So we enjoyed a wonderful time at Villa Palma Real, a resort on the beach about 1 hour from La Ceiba. We enjoyed swimming in the ocean and pool and some even ventured out in ocean kayaks. We were grateful to take Eric, one of the volunteers from the church, along with us for the day. Eric worked very hard with us all week long at the home site so it was nice to have him enjoy a day with us.
We made our way back to our host homes late afternoon to prepare for the church’s Saturday Night service. Many of us feel right at home as their services are much like ours except in Spanish. The church put a great video together celebrating all that we had done in our week at Iglesia Gran Comision and we hope to be able to show you all at home sometime soon in our service at CRC. Once again, it was an emotional evening as we said goodbye to some of the friends we have made this week.
We were up bright and early because Jesus(aka Chewy) picked us all up at 6 am to make our 3 hours bus trip to San Pedro Sula’s Airport. It was a bittersweet morning saying goodbye to our host families who truly feel like family to us now. It was a beautiful morning to drive to San Pedro Sula with the mountains and pineapple fields dotting the landscape.
We arrived at the airport and got everyone checked in. Our flight out has been delayed but they were able to change our connecting flight in Atlanta to help get us to Pittsburgh late tonight.
Thank You so very much for your prayers and we will pray for a safe return to Pittsburgh this evening.
See you soon!
