Divorce and separation are among life’s most difficult and painful experiences. You don’t have to go through it alone. Help and encouragement from others is important during the healing process. Chestnut Ridge Church offers a DivorceCare support group for people who are going through separation or divorce. The format of the group is in two parts: during the first 30-40 minutes of the meeting, the group watches a DVD featuring top experts on divorce and recovery topics. These videos contain valuable information about recovering from divorce and are produced in an interesting-to-watch television magazine format. The topics include the following:
- What’s Happening to Me?
- The Road to Healing/Finding Help
- Facing your Anger
- Facing your Depression
- Facing your Loneliness
- What Does the Owner’s Manual Say?
- New Relationships
- Financial Survival
- Single Sexuality
- Moving On, Growing Closer to God
Following the video, the participants spend time as a group discussing what was presented on that week’s video and what is going on in the lives of the group’s participants.
